Backend Engineer (.NET / SQL / API Integration) | Contract

Overview

A leading global organisation is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of a backend-driven reporting platform focused on network and security data across the APAC region.

This role will be responsible for building scalable backend services, API integrations, data pipelines, and reporting models using C#/.NET and SQL Server technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with regional stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional technical teams to transform raw operational data into actionable reporting insights while supporting production environments and observability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & Reporting Platform

• Design, build, enhance, and support backend applications and reporting services for network and security reporting use cases across APAC
• Develop production-grade applications and services using C#/.NET to ingest, process, normalise, and expose reporting data from internal and external systems
• Build and maintain API integrations, including authentication handling, error handling, retry logic, scheduling, monitoring, and data mapping
• Design, develop, and optimise SQL Server databases, schemas, stored procedures, queries, and data pipelines to support reporting and operational analytics
• Translate raw network and security system data into meaningful operational and management reporting insights

Monitoring, Support & Troubleshooting

• Support logging, alerting, troubleshooting, and dashboarding workflows using Splunk and related observability tools
• Diagnose and resolve issues across application, API, database, and network layers
• Support production applications and ensure operational stability and performance
• Prepare technical documentation, support runbooks, operational procedures, and handover materials to support ongoing maintenance and support activities

Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration

• Partner with APAC stakeholders to gather business requirements, prioritise enhancements, and refine reporting needs
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and support teams to ensure reporting solutions align with operational and business requirements
• Coordinate with global teams and maintain regular overlap with U.S. Eastern Time stakeholders where required

Requirements

• Degree in Information Technology or related disciplines
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Software Engineering, Application Support, or Integration Engineering
• Hands-on development experience using C#/.NET within enterprise or production environments
• SQL Server expertise, including T-SQL, stored procedures, query optimisation, and data modelling
• Good understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, authentication mechanisms, pagination, and integration troubleshooting
• Experience supporting production applications and balancing project delivery with operational support responsibilities
• Familiarity with Splunk for logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, dashboarding, or observability use cases
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including VLANs, switching, wireless environments, and IP networking
